Title: My new golf gti got keyed today
Post by: Mark Hateley FF on 25 June 2009, 16:22

Had it in a carpark at work and when i came out at lunch time there was a key mark about 1 foot on the back end of it.

Ive been quoted £120 to have it sorted which will result in the paintwork being on the whole panel.

Its a black pearlesant, will they match it up to a good standard?

I will provide a picture later. But im raging

Is there not a specialist repair company who could sort it for less? You know...a chips away kind of operation? Not them exactly but that kind of thing?

£120 sound's a good price to be honest, sorry to hear you have to fork out that much for some scumbag's action's. Let's hope he trip's up and lands on a broken bottle face first, take more than £120 to fix that..

A good bodyshop should be able to match it easily enough. I had blue pearl on my mk4 and had bodywork done on that with no problems, just depends on the sprayer!

Gutted for you mate, had mine done on same car, although i tried to lessen the mark with some black T Cut and if ya take you time, you will be suprised.

Gives you a bit time to save up,then pay up the £120 which is not a bad price as Sambo says.

Good luck fella.

Chris.

oh man sorry to hear that. There are people out there who are scum and should be neutered so they can't breed more scum.

£120 sounds like a really good deal, however I'd get it re-sprayed by a professional rather than a chip away type of company. My brother had his car keyed 2 or 3 years ago and where he got it fixed by a chips away type company the lacquer has started to crack and peel away.

Clean and polished cars attract the attention of:
Eco warriors
Envious gits
Vicars
Kids on bikes
Audi drivers

They all need boiling in oil.

Hey, what's wrong with Audi drivers? It's BM drivers you need to watch out for LOL

As I drive a BMW on sunny days I don't fancy frying in hot oil.

I find Audiists to be a funny breed in general (not enthusiasts on forums like this, they are OK) with a bitter and twisted king of the road attitude.

It seems most of the to$$ers who used to ride up your trumpet on a motorway, waving their arms wildly, were BMW drivers... They've abandoned their 3-Series' for A4's.
