my car is on coilies and sits like so...

now to go any lower on the front i need a whiteline uprated arb, these cost 130 quid ish, and also stiffen the front end promoting understeer.
so do i spend 130 quid spoil the handling and scrape every where and not be able to get on gfs drive to look good or leave as is? opinions?
also it doesnt really look like this anymore, will be washed and pics tomorow :cool:

I'd leave it, but the ARB will improve handling not make it worse :wink:

Why would it do that ??? things dont get put on cars to make them handle worse

BARS on CARS - What applies to me and my vehicle?
Whiteline Jim’s simple sway bar guide to better handling:
Front Wheel Drive – increase the rear sway bar size
Rear Wheel Drive – increase the front sway bar size
4 Wheel Drive – increase front then rear bar size
All Wheel Drive – increase rear then front bar size
taken from whitelines website, fitting a uprated rear arb will improve a fwd cars handling, not both

so buy the adjustable bar and have the front on a softer setting than the rear :wink:

this is the best option really but they are uber expensive :(

if you run your car any lower you may want to buy a sump guard otherwise your just going to smash it up
which is spending more money again

It makes a hell of a difference between soft and hard :smiley:

I'm still on the middle setting of my 28mm rear bar,i dread to think what it would be like on hard,the treads are starting to look a bit ripped :laugh:

Looks nice as it is mate.lowered mine too much when i first had my coilovers and it was a nightmare as it rubbed everywhere :sad:

i just love the look of a slammed golf, id probably wind the front down and inch to inch and a half, so it sits a tad lower then the rear

What coilovers have ya got out of interest?

i really dont understand anything about adjusting the ARB's lol. what would the difference be about it being harder or softer? and patch how comes your tyres are looking ripped?

the harder the setting the flatter you corner i.e it will help to minimise (not eliminate) body roll
if you're not 'slamming it' then i would just upgrade the rear anti roll bar as that makes the biggest difference to the handling; basically it helps reduce the understeer

plans are to get a 4motion front splitter and do it gloss black(if you can tell in pics grills and mirror bases and rear valance are already done)
get yellow film and 3000k hids for headlamps, smoked repeaters, half smoked rears, light tints and some anni skirts and a spoiler sprayed to match car, thats preety much it looks wise :D
sorry the car is dirty in pics and they are poor, will get better 1s this weekend

Good luck with speed bumps, ramps and uneven roads, had mine that low and got so p1ssed of with it i had it taken up a bit

i was just thinking that, this is far wound down as i would go on the ebay coilies, 10mm or 5 threads from bottom :) it may settle yet it usually can take up to a week

I wouldn't have thought they would settle much, the springs are already worn in, same as the damper.
The drop is about right on mine, I can get over speed bumps (slowly) and also have 5 people in the car with no rubbing

looks nice that :cool: but as others have already mention and i may as well add i would'nt have removed your front arb it was fitted by vw for a reason i cant imagine that it would handle better without it although maybe because you have wound the collies down further :huh: imo re-fit or uprate it

i didnt say it handled better just no different, theres loads on ukmkivs run without 1 and the mechanic said its fine too. i will run like this for a month or so then see if i want a uprated 1

I've got an uprated 25mm front ARB in my mk4, and no rear!! :grin:
Still can't afford one :sad:
