Title: The new MK2 model...
Post by: maaarcooose on 25 June 2009, 08:23
I just became a Dad.

My little man was born yesterday morning at 3:30.

Now I've just got to work out if I can get a car seat in the cab. Was thinking about redoing the rear seats to 3 point belts, but I suspect it's a lot of work. I wonder if I can find a scrap job somewhere that has belts built into the seats, then I could remove them and adapt the cab's rear seats to take them.
I feel a new project coming on, if I ever get any time now. :)

Might bring the little one along to the August fest if I'm in any way sorted.

Congrats.

Is it really worth f**king about with the little one's safety though?

there is a way to do this safely, VW had special mounts you could add to the rear of the cab to make this work. Give em a bell, never know might still be available!

there is also the 3 point setup fitted to late US spec cabbies, but rare.  Dont even think about trying to bodge up your own, far to risky!

Absolutely.

I'm certainly not going to do it unless it's safe. I was fairly sure there was a proper setup as I've seen a cab in Golf+ once with 3 points in the rear that was done properly.

I shall give VW a buzz.

edit: and here is the info for the child restraint. might have better luck with part numbers than asking vw about the setup direct. Plus this info is from the bentley, so might not be avail in the UK...
