went to change my rear wheel bearnings last night and there is supposed to two 17mm bolts holding the caliper on.. Instead there where torx heads on them and there rusted to bits.. I couldnt get them out..is this usuall or have i got some dodgy bolts??
-
This is totally normal mate. These can be an absolute nightmare to remove! Best bet is to give them a good soaking in plus gas or something similar and use an Irwin Bolt grip set to remove them! Oh and youll need to replace them for new bolts when refitting the caliper. Think i paid around £4 for a set of four from VW.

i found a lot of swearing and brute force got them out:)

iv got an oxy-acetylene torch ,, so im going to give em some heat and then have another go,, if that dont work im gunna weld a nut on the end of the bolt and just get a socket on it,,, that'll get em out..

Why go to all that trouble?
Just buy the irwin extractors
-
i ground mine off and replaced em, i tried bolt extractors from macine mart but they wouldnt grab so i tried grinding edges on for hours and just ended up grinding em off all together, then the rest of the bolts came out with grips once the caliper fell off.
