Title: Strange speaker problem...
Post by: MK3TDi1996 on 24 June 2009, 19:01
The other day my tweeter in the o/s rear door gave up and made the lower speaker (same door) make a horrible 'droning' type noise! I disconnected both speakers, this however made all the other speakers emit a low 'buzzing noise'.  Not being able to take it anymore I went to the scrappers and got another tweeter, plugged it in and hey presto. no more buzzing! - Thing is, now there is very little sound from either speaker from the rear o/s door!  If i turn it up super loud, all the others speakers are blasting and the rear o/s is very faint, my god, what is the problem here!!!???

The only easy way is to trace all the wires back to the head unit, or crossover if it uses one.

Not the answer you wanted I suspect, but something rubbed against the wire and caused it, or it is an internal fault to the head unit or speaker.

i'm thinking it's the headunit perhaps as when i connect a wire straight to the headunit, the speaker is on,  but deadly quiet - that seems to be the problem - the speakers in the rear offside DO work, they are just very, very quiet!
