Title: 02A gearbox help....is the tower mech swappable?

can the gearbox tower mech on top of the 1996 mk3 2.0 16v 02A be unbolted and swapped for another...

and if so does it have to be off another mk3 16v or do other cars have the 02A gearbox..

any 02a one will work, just make sure its got the same ends on it as yours, i.e. MK4 shifters have different ends on.  Passat/Corrado ones to around the mid to late 90s should be spot on
