Hi guys i got the total closure alarm and immmob as fitted from VW to my mk3 golf. Everything works fine but when its set off there is no noise, i get the idicators flashing but no noise from horn or a siren. any one know what is up with this?

Have you tried the connections on the speaker cone under the bonnet ??
-
there seems to be like a black siren box, but no speaker cone. i looked at this black box and it has a cover over a switch. i dont know if turning this switch will change anything or if its even to do with the alarm as the alarm manual says the noise is made by the horn but the horn works when pressing it.might just take it to VW but any comments before i go are aprreciated

Thank god im not alone!! I thought i was going crazy i have exactly the same issue with my vw full closure alarm/immobiliser. only had mk3 a month or so and all i get is the indicators flashing.
What are the car thieves going to do have a rave??
I cant even see a siren under the bonnet, that could be the problem?
Anyone with any experience of this please reply!!

hey there... i have a '97 mk3 gti with the same total enclosure system as yrs... and yeah, i'm getting the same problem, as in no noise from the siren when the alarm is set off. When i bought the car, the lady who owned it before me told me that she had turned the siren off, as it was bugging her if it ever went off in the night. She also pointed out a little key on the fob, and told me that if i ever want to turn it back on, i should just stick this key into the siren and it will activate the sound again. So i tried this, and it now makes a very very very very quite mouse like sound, lmao :D which is crap!
went to VW, but all they said is that they don't stock spare parts or instructions for their alarms, so that was a load of use :/
so i'm left with no sound, and from reading this, i might just got and check the wires, so if there is a semi loose connection somewhere which is providing a weak source of power to the siren.
let me know how you get on.

what did u put the key into maybe im lookin at the wrong thing

I'm still having trouble with my system - I shorted out the cig lighter, and it blew the fuse. It hasn't done the closure thing since.
The alarm box is next to the passenger side suspension turret. There is a small round keyhole with a rubber cover. You can use that to switch it on or off. The siren is enclosed inside the box - it doesn't look like a siren or a horn.
Hope you have more luck than me!
