well im looking to buy an abf mk3 or similar to drop into my mk2, im awesome on the pb engine but know not as much about the abf, heard all good stuff about it too. Just looking for some help in the way of was there any changes to the abf over the years, management etc, and if so which is the best to go for? newer one or older etc. The engine will be fully rebuilt and get some nice bits on it etc. looking for some good figures.
any help would be awesome

in 1995ISH they changed from OBD1 to OBD2 management. The later is what you want to be after. I would say try and get one from a P reg donor car to be on the safe side.

Are you going to use the running gear + brakes from the mk3 to make it wider track?
If so i would just get a whole mk3 as a donor car.
You could pick a whole car up for £300-£500 with body rot/damage. And thats a generous price, could get one lower!!
