Title: Mk2 16V vrs Mk2 8V
Post by: philadams16V on 20 August 2004, 20:17
I have a 1990 16V on 15s, with a drilled box and a full stainless Scorpion system.? My m8 has a 1989 8v on 14s, with an induction kit and a full magnex stainless.? Just want to know which you guys think would win in a flat out 0-60 race? and from 60-120mph?? ?::) ;D

8v probs quicker off the line but the 16v will nail it on top end.

just go and race him and let us know before this turns into a big ''hoo haar'' again ;) :P

sorry geezer but that just aint true.....

i fought on the 8 valves side for a long time, but now know after driving my 16v, the 16v would beat the 8v in all aspects of speed tests i.e 0-60 and 60-120 ;)

60-120 would be  a sorry ass joke  :D

the 16v will win. end of story.
there won't be much difference to 60, but after that forget it. the 16v will leave it for dead.

Have to agree with everyone else.
I've got a 8V and it's OK to 60 but the last 90 - 120 takes a day & half ;)
Still love it though

Try driving a 1.3, you have to give yourself a weeks notice if you want to go over 70!! ;)

Used to have a 1.3 Mk1, felt like you were doing 120 when the needle read 60. Foor gears and all of them slow :D
Never got a speeding ticket though  ;)

16v would easily win the 0-60 and the 60-120 would be the nightmare come true for the 8v.

i still cant understand why people still think, like for like, that an 8v will beat a 16v

a 16v has more power & is better geared for sprinting than an 8v, end of story!!

the only way an 8v will beat a 16v is how good the driver is.

....16v, what 16v? When you 16v boys coming flying past I won't even notice, coz I'll be too busy looking good  8)

And Dizzie a 16v will beat an 8v no question, but it won't leave it for dead, no way, you would need something like a 20vt to do that  ;)

Yeah,  mine tops out at around 95-100mph!  But it shakes all over the place and sounds like its gonna crumble beneath me when I rag it, sooo, i try not to!  Plus the unfortunate driver who sits behind me gets a face full of smake and dust ;D

Love it when i dump the clutch and there a convertaable sitting behind me with the roof down
