Hi all, i just got towed home, well i was driving, everything was normal, put ?30 of optimax, went to kfc, and switched the engine off, started it up about 15 minutes later, got on the main road, going about 40 miles an hour, changed into 4th gear, put my foot down and there was no acceleration, there was a slight low noise when i pressed the accelerator, i changed into 3rd, same thing happened, then went into second same thing happened, it was just gettin slower, so i pulled over and it cut out. tried starting it up again and it wouldnt kick in, it was trying though, i checked the engine and, oil water etc, seems normal, my bro said it could be something to do with the fuel pump, but if any of u have any ideas please reply, thanks!

checked the fuel pump relay?
-
do you normally use optimax?
-
thanks, for the quick replies, ill check the relays, and yes ive always used optimax
-
the ECU should automatically adjust the timing to whatever fuel you decide to use.

If it just died and ran to a halt, check your dizzie cap, or rotor arm. Bit of a weak spot, and if it goes, it will seem the engine is running as the car slows to a stop.

hey again, took it the garage today and i think its pretty much what AdamB said, so thanks for ya help, its costin me ?75 fitted. sh!t happens.
-
?75 is a sweet repare bill, Wait till you slam the car sideways into a curb and rip appart your steering, ?500 repair bill and a ?700 set of alloys later im back in buisness :o
-
holy sh!t, when u put it like that, it aint so bad :o

Glad I could help, but if it really was something as simple as that, then I think ?75 was a bit steep. The parts are less then ?15, and its only a 5 minute job to change them over. Did they have to pick the car up? not a bad price if that was the case.

Fielder what went on your when you hit the kerb sideways mine bent the wishbone and the tie rod end on the steering rack and put it back together and the wheel is still off line so i think the suspension must be bent so ive ordered one if that doesnt put it right maybe it could be the hub could it? what else could of been damaged? HELP

He changed a couple of things, he was talkin about some coil aswell, which was replaced too, he changed the part where the spark plug leads go too, and something above it! it solved the problem anyway and my car feels more responsive especially from the first couple of revs.
