nice rwd conversion there, but as some of the american critics have replied 'why not the turbo lump??' exactly, and the other chaps reply about fitting it to standard fwd transmission, hmmm if it didnt fit the same bell housing location holes then get and adaptor plate made up and a custom clutch!!! job done easy!! (as long as it aint much longer, but if its derived fromt he orig 8v vw/audi lump then shouldnt differ too much!! other wise the inner wing would have to take a battering!!)
nice to see some thing different though!!
tel yas what conversion i want to see, a mk2 3 door golf, with a rear wheel drive, bmw m3 evo lump and box in it, sod it dash and seats as well!!!!

Could be a possibility that the turbo engine was not fitted down to sheer power. Either that or a tranny that could hold the sorta power from a turbo couldnt fit into a Mk2
