Hi
VW GOLF GTI 16V 1990 OAKGREEN.
Problems started last week.
Turned on the ignition and no battery light.car started ok.
battery light flickered on but went out when revved.(thought was loose belt).....got in car yesterday.....no battery light..started ok.....stopped at garage........turned key...........nothing!..as though the battery was flat.
jump started.....cut out on way home.......tried to restart......nothin...tested battery 11.66v.
jump sarted..........left running for 1- 1 1/2 hours.........alternator charging at 14.3 v.........turned off.......battery voltage...13v.
disconnected battery..........left overnight.......tested this morning and battery voltage was 12.4v.
turned on ignition and all lights there......started ok.
Left car at home and will test if battery has dropped when i get back from work.
any ideas?
car has an immobiliser.

forgot to say.
seems to tie in with a clicking noise behine the dash.
clicks the same whatever speed i go so i dont think its the speedo cable.
wierd thing is though it stops when the car stops!
poss a relay of some sort?
