Title: fuel tank sender

 Finally got round to finding out why my car runs out of fuel even when showing 1/4 tank.
Let it run down today and took the top of the tank of to confirm it was empty and it was although gauge said otherwise, took to pump/sender unit out and operated the float but even when at the bottom the tank shows 1/4. If I disconnect the 2 sender wires and join them together the gauge reads zero as it should. So, I need a new sender (unless anyone thinks there may be a different fault) wheres the best (cheapest) place to get one? VW want about £53 for it. :sad:

it looks similar but not the same so not sure if it will work properly?
