how the heck do i get smudges from car polish and such off the rain x layer?.

Try Carlack 68 instead. It's better than Rain x and lasts longer.

cool, thanks for the heads up..
im using lidls stuff at the mo, W5 nano solution and im really impressed with it..
gonna go rain repellent all the time now... :smiley:
