Title: Mk3 GTi cutting out once hot
Post by: gti sa on 22 June 2009, 16:51
Of recent I have been experiencing cutting off once the engine gets hot.  I will be driving along and all of a sudden the rev will drop however receover very quickly.  The car does not switch off though.  This only happens when the engine is hot.  Not sure if it is the Coil, ECU relay or Fuel pump relay.  I decided one day to turn off my radio and listen out for any suspicious noises.  When the engine decided to dip I did hear a relay click.  Now I am not sure if this is because the engine has almost switched off or there is actually something wrong with a relay.

Please help with any ideas'....

I had the same problem with mine and I just changed the Distributor £87 from GSF. Good as new. Or by the way you have to take your old Dizzy in with you as part exchange. Hope this helps. Steve.

you can check if its the cam sensor on the dizzy by leaving it unpluged+seeing if it still cuts out, engine shoulld run alright without it for testing, no point changing things without testing first
