Hi, ever since Martin from HIC gave me a good price on insurance i've been looking around the site but until now I hadn't found the time to post anyway here I am!!
I've always wanted a gti and very nearly imported one back in the 80's but the deal dropped through. Anyway to cut a long story short I got one of the new focus st's back in 2005 and that was some thirsty beast so part ex'd for a gt tdi 170 and that was great but really got no more than 45 mpg so convinced myself, and er indoors, that 35 mpg in a 'real' gti wasn't bad so have got a red mk5 and now looking to buy a mk3 or mk4 as a second car.
btw great site spotted link for gti show and got myself a couple of tickets

std car, unmolested so far lol, I do a lot of long runs so getting 35 to 37 mpg by sticking to speed limits, as we all do , however if my foot does slip a little bit it only seems to knock the mpg down by a couple of miles so well chuffed
