Title: Hey Hey, 'dub fans!
Post by: xu10j4rs on 21 June 2009, 10:33
Just signed up and thought I'd say hello here first.

My name's Tom and i'm on the sunny south coast.

Now don't all stab me at once but my car is a different kind of Gti (10 points for whoever guesses first - i've already given you the answer indirectly), however my younger brother has a Golf Gti and that's the reason I'm here!

He's not overly mechanically minded, whereas I am, so I'm usually helping him out with his car on one thing or another.

A bit about his car (if you're interested): it's a 1991 (J) mk2 8v.
Completely original, standard engine, suspension, wheels, exhaust, bodywork, interior etc. It'd been owned by a middle aged gent before so hadn't been played around with. I gather this is quite a rare thing to find a mk2 Gti thats standard even right down to the original stereo!

It was on about 130,000 miles and ran really well. Picked up this untouched example for the princely sum of £500! Needless to say the younger brother was quite happy!

Anyhow that's all, if there's any more I'm supposed to add/do, let me know...

Cheers,

Tom

It's been much more reliable than a certain German car I know  and even that's been very reliable so far - as a VW should be!
