I bought a (very) cheap black mk3 golf gti from ebay to get me around for a while. The car is is good condition except for one or two things inclduing the wheels. A previous owner has put the wrong sized wheels on it so it has 4 alloys that are too wide so the rears rub the arches with their 205/55/16 tires and one of the fronts is a bit corroded so that the 195/45/16 tire keeps going flat as it's not 100% sealed around the bead.
So now all 4 tires need replacing I have 3 options really:
1) break the car and sell it for parts.
2) by 4 new tires as cheap as possible and hope the fronts down go flat and get the rear arches rolled (best price so far is £300 for the whole lot)
3) buying new wheels and tires such as these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=150352204557
(Plus roll rear arches if necessary)
I believe that the subaru pcd is 5x100, but not sure about the offset and centre bore diameter.
Anyone know if these would fit? I quite like the look of these wheels and they are in much better condition than mine.

Subaru wheels will and have been fitted to mk3's, offset can be wrong also bolt holes will be too small as Subaru's uses studs.

Here is the link again http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=150352204557
if not them the ebay item number is 150352204557.
So I assume that they will not be a straight swap then as the holes are too small. What about the offset? Will they fit under the arches or will they need to be rolled?

Tyres are too big, 205/45/16 or 215/40/16 is the correct size.

Yes I have Scooby fitment wheels.
Had to buy 15mm spacers and long studs.
They have been on for 3 or 4 years now and have been fine, no problems whatsoever!

My current alloys are Subaru fit with a 42 offset.
-
For the past 2 year's, i'v been running Innovit Tarmac alloys. Their a multifit in 5x100 or 5x114. So Toyota, VW and Subaru fitment.. Their also a 36 offset, so all i use is a 5mm wheel spacer to clear my front caliper's. But for info, the early subaru pcd is 5x100, but the newer subaru is 5x114. i also run 215/40/17 on the rear, and 205/40/17 on the front with no rubbing what so ever

they may also need spacers as due to contact with the brake caliper
