just taking it out is not going to solve the problem
you need to get a new immobiliser module and key and get it reprogrammed to the car
ironically i have an immobiliser box and key sitting in my shed somewhere

it was fully functional right up to the moment i removed it from the car
as for getting a key cut that varies from £70-150

have you had it checked on vag-com, the error it givesa you will tell you if its the key that has lost its coding or a communication/power/transponder ring problem.

Is it a factory unit or aftermarket, if aftermarket very easy to remove or bypass.
