hi all!! ive just bought my first gti and everything was fine untill i got a couple of miles up the road in it and it started cutting out for no reason???? now i know there is a lot off posts already bout this subject but i thought mine was a bit wierd as the car runs fine apart from this. there are no problems when driving it its just when u come to a stop at sayyyyyyy some traffic lights and i put the clutch down the revs drop realy low the oil light flashes and it cuts out, then it dosent fire up straight away only after bout 10 seconds of turning the engine over???? but if i start it up at a stand still and rev it it dosent cut out ????? im confused as some peolpe hav said dodgy relays but i dont think mine is that. any sugestions please or anybody who can sort this for me
thanks
Ben

One of the MK3 sections first posts "The dirty Throttle body saga continues"
Give it a clean dude then do the relays if it persists Crank angle sensor then mallet it up and switch to MK2 for overfuelin Digifant and buggered heater speed selector and window switch, Then swap for MK4 removing gay wood from dash and broken clutch pedal, Then swap for MK5 why does it look like a SEAT and is driven by Wives and Gay boys
MK6..........TBC
Sorry im drunk and i needed to get that off my chest

Hi Mate, had the same problem on mine. I've just changed the Dizzy a few days ago. Not had any problems as yet. Touch wood LOL. Before changing the Dizzy I changed the coil as the ignition moduel can get hot and when you try to start your car it just turns over and won't start for ages until it's cooled down, £47 from GSF 5 mins to fit it. I've also changed the relay switch for the petrol pump, I changed the petrol pump also, easy to fit also, carn't remeber the cost £60 i think. New HT leads also could be a bad earth. Hope this helps buddy. Steve.

I have the same problem with mine, went down the avenue of thinking it was the idle control valve then realising, the 8 valve doesnt have one. mine is going into the garage 2mo, so if i get it sorted and i have a solution for you, i will get back to you. :embarassed:

ive been playin around with allsorts of sensors and couldnt find anything wrong. i noticed the airbox wasnt on right and when i sorted that out i ran like a dream so i think that might hav been the problem.. i also hooked it up to the computer for peace of mind andthe only thing it came up with is the coolant temp sensor/sendor. but does any1 know where it is???? thanks Ben

my car is back from the garage, and it was the temperature control sensor which is in the centre of the engine with the large water pipe going towards it, the part costs 21 pound from euro parts and its a two mintue fix. make sure u do this when engine is coldas you dont want hot water spraying in your face, remember to pull the green pin out on the side and remove sensor hope this helps, ps also had a broke HD lead
