Last week noticed a big crack in my windscreen about 6 inches long in the top left corner, there is no impact mark on the glass and it appeared to just crack overnight, now just got in the car and there is another big ass crack in the oposite corner (bottom right) obviously i know the windscreen needs replacing asap, £75 excess on my policy. What would have caused it to break? and is the second crack because the whole screen is weakened? Dont want to pay for a new one if its gunna do the same

there might have been a stone chip and it might have been cold at night, making it cool and expand...or maybe someone pushed down on it?? :/

Chances are there was a small imperfection in the glass and as Grim Reaper said it has contracted after cooling down and thus cracked. Any screen once weakened will be prone to more damage. A new one should not have the same issues, unless your car is somehow bent and your screen is under constant tension, which I reckon is unlikely!

if the frame is bent then the screen wont bond properly (the fitter should notice)...with a new screen you shouldnt have problems unless you get another stone chip, and you usually have a few months warrenty and if you get problems with the new screen its free :)
