Title: Insurance renewal is here - Bit high!

Just got my renewal letter in the post today from HIC.

So, I'm 26, 7 years no claims, 3 points on my licence (TS10), 1 accident that was not my fault, full recovery made.  Car is a 1.8T mk4 GTI.  Worth about £4000, I only do 6,000 miles a year.  Car is parked in Manchester, but on a driveway.

Renewal = £688.34
Protect claims = £787.85

Who thinks that is a LOT of money?  :shocked:

I've got to pay monthly too, so it's going to have about 20% APR on that too!

What was it last year mate?

Buy it outright on a credit card with a lower %APR and pay it off to suit yourself, thats what I do.

I pay £58 a month on my 1.8t with me my girlfriend and step dad on it as it brought the cost down.I'm 24 with 2 years no claims, a claim in 2005 when my girlfriend wrote my zetec s off.Thats with coilovers declared and thats it

phone them up.. my renewal was expensive as it only quotes from your current insurer (so hic said) but a call saved me many £££ (even adding the wife on)

I've spoken to them on the phone.  they switched me to another insurer, and even with the car on the drive, putting me down as married, trying to add my mum onto the insurance, quote was exactly the same, or £99 more if I protect my no claims.

i just renewed mine with a dif company today cause they wanted 568.76 to renew.im 25 with 5 years ncb no accidents or points , alloys and coilovers on the list of mods.

i got it for £478.11 with ESURE seems a good price to me.

I think that's taking the piss when for me being 20, 1 NCB on a £4K 1.8T, parked on the street costs me £1000.

I'm 26 with a clean licence, 1 years NCB on MK V GTi... quoted £1000+.

Added the missus - 33, SP30, SP50......... changed to £595

Get a more 'demure' burd.  :lipsrsealed:
