Im 19 just ordered myself a brand new mk6 gti in white 2 years no claims im struggling for insurance any ideas ? all the companies are saying 21 years old but when i get my friend to do a quote although he is 20 he has 9 points on his licence yet gets a quote for 2.5k ???
-
Best cancel the order then or just keep ringing around till you hit the insurance jackpot. It isn't going to be cheap.
-
You are going to struggle massively to get insurance on £22k group 17 car at 19.
You ordered the car without even looking for insurance?
-
cancelling this car is not an option its my dream car if i have to pay 4k for insurance so be it. can anyone reccomend any insurance campanies sabre is the best quote i have had
-
Im reasonably young (22, although 21 when I took the insurance out) and got a good price from Greenlight Insurance. You could try them.
-
I found insurance at 1500 with money supermarket with admiral but despite me entering the car details correctly when i go on admiral it comes up as GOLF 2.00 N/A ??? so its not a gti clearly but isnt that down to them if they have screwed up ?

you obviously have far more money than sense
-
No as you havent taken out the insurance yet. Your just trying to get a quote.
Im a little confused. Are you saying that the MK6 GTI isnt an option on the insurance website? If it isnt then your going to have to phone them up for a quote.
you obviously have far more money than sense
I know, crazy aye
-
yes its an option bu when i do it through money supermarket it reverts to GOLF N/A on admiral
-
TBH it sounds like you have got yourself in a bit of a pickle, I would call up admiral and see what they say. I highly doubt they will do it for £1500.
-
Im insured now on a mk5 GTTDI 170 group 16 so dont see how 1 group can make much difference
-
Fair play if you can afford it !
Seem's like a fair bit of jealousy circling this thread at the moment TBH!
Phone them up, at least then if there are any mistakes it's there fault, also watch the excess, would imagine your looking at £500+ at your age, see if you can pay a bit more and knock it down a few hundred.
Good luck, make sure we get pictures too!
Sam

I know Im willing to have an excess of 5k cos ive got gap insurance
-
Nothing to do with jealousy, just financial sense
-
Anyone reccomend any companies ?

Thats OK if it get's written off. Bear in mind though if someone goe's down the side of you and cause's £500 of damage, then does one, you won't be able to claim.

its not jealousy at all
first off.. having a brand new GTi as a first car is stupid... the reason the insurance premiums are sky high is because the insurance candidate in question hasn't even reached his 20th birthday.. highest risk group, male, wanting to impress the chicks... prime candidate for a hospital bed - i don't need to go on
financially... if the money is his then I don't envy his financial decision making at all... if the money isn't then someone else has more money than sense. either way, the way that you are being so blasé about this is laughable.

probably, but you only live once, live it to the max, some are more lucky than others, but maybe this guy worked his ar$e off. Best of luck finding insurance mate, it WILL be hard and it WILL be expensive, but it will be worth it
-
Were you reffering to me being blasé?
If so your right, I don't care what he buy's. I don't think people telling him don't do it, you must be mad etc is going to make a monkey's differance considering the car is already ordered? All the lad want's is an idea of where to find insurance for it?
If I was in his position would I do it? Probably when I was 19 yes!
Now looking back though it seems a stupid idea, but life's full of mistakes as we all know!
If you weren't refering to me, then ignore the above!
Where abouts to you live too, as I just got a quote through comparethemeerkat.com for £2990 with the same details as yours but for my area.

Isn't this the exact same as the other thread in the mk6 section ? I think so. Locky, locky, locked, locked.
