alrite geezer, so you have got a 1.8 driver eh?

you would need a sh!t load of dough to do the 1.8T conversion,

1st things st you would have to uprate you brakes all the way round, which in your case would meen doin a rear disc conversion.
have you got coilovers, if not i would recomend sourcing some of these to.
those to things alone would cos about 1.2k (if you wanted decent brakes that is)
to get a decent 1.8T conversion done id say you would be looking at around 5k.

your prepared to spend a further 6.5k on your driver then mate ???

I would say it depends how you want to go about it.

If you are going to do the work yourself, as he said you need to upgrade breaks etc.. as well so cheapest way for you would be to buy a crashed car, and use everything you need, but there are still parts that you will need on top of that.

I know where you can get a 180bhp lump for ?500 with wireing etc... but I can tell you that is just the start it is a expensive road to go.

Why not try to the cheaper road and do a 16v to start with, you could do that in a weekend at a sensible price.

you'll have to change everything like Clair said. right down to the fuel delivery as I'm guessing the driver's pump isn't up to the job. Brakes you should get a set off a VR6 on the front and possibly look at a rear disc converion, but no essential as we all us mk2 owners know what little work the rear callipers actually do  >:( I personally wouldn't bother with coilovers. you might need to uprate the shocks somewhere on the front to handle the extra weight. I put 16v springs on mine all round and still the front has dropped about 1/3 of a inch and now rubs on hard corners.

if you're doing it yourself QPE (07980 983095 / info@qpeng.co.uk) do a complete kit to get your engine running with 200bhp for ?900 + VAT. At the moment they only offer this kit to plumb into a mk2 digifant but I'm sure if you inquire they can tell you more than me. That'll get you past the imob, etc that all these engines have and you won't need mk4 clocks, etc.

if you want to know how much from a company get on the dog and bone and call some. Quotes from earlier in the year (so have probably changed) DesignaDubs - ?5000 / Dubsport - ?6300 / Bedrock - ?6500 / TSR - ?6500 / JBS - ?8000 / Midland VW - ?3500. Obviously you get what you pay for with everyone. I'm sure you've seen the recent work from the JBS boys on their conversions. Some companies use stand along management that gets round the imob on the OE ECU's. There's mixed views on all the management so don't believe what company A say against what company B say.

Gearbox wise I'm running a mk3 16v 'box with an uprated clutch to handle the output. It's a 180 TT lump running a KO3s turbo and should be running about 210bhp once I get a 2.5" zorst on there as my standard effort is limiting it somewhat. (ie, it bangs and pops when you let off ;D) Obviously custom pipes have to be made up to link it all together. Cost wise was ?4218 I think, but I had to replace a few other things during the conversion just to be on the safe side. A wishbone was heavily rusted and some of the bushes were tired. I need new shocks first to stay on the road lol.

Make some phone calls. People will gladly advise and help you out. This is dubworld after all :)

Put it like this, for what it will cost you, you could buy an early mk4 1.8T in fair condition. Or since its a mk3 anyway, go out and buy an absolutely MINT vr6, insurance would be the same as a 1.8T conversion anyway.

oh. another thing while talking about insurrance. mine added on ?350 if I was limited to 180bhp or ?650 to take me to 250bhp. That's ontop of the ?894 I already pay them.

that reminds me. I still need to pay them the extra ;D

does sound worth all the hassle really madsingh :-\

JBS do a drive in drive out R32 conversion for 8k, i cant believe they charge the same for a 1.8T.

do you know that for around 6.5 k you could buy an absolutly mint mk3 vr6?

or you could buy a smokey mk4 1.8T.

the choice should be simple geezer ;)

It's not running gear. it's an ECU with a load of loom and some plugs on it that connect into the digipants fuse box and then to all the bits that make the 20v work. injectors, throttle body, MAF, etc, etc. I said earlier mine was from a TT.

Clair, buy that engine. you could easily sell it on ;D
