Hi guys been and ordered a mark 6 GTI and have been told it will be in build week 28 whatever that means!! the spec is:  Pearl black metallic
                             18" monzas
                             5 doors
                             electric sunroof
                             winter pack
                             acc
                             rcd 510 + dynaudio
                             xenons
I've never owned a golf before and have longed for a GTI for years, I just love the look of the new mark 6 GTI over and above the mark 5.  I am sooo looking forward to getting it.  Pics when it arrives.

Congrats on your purchase ! Welcome to the forum. MK6 section hasn't really kicked off yet but Im sure given time it will.

Blimey VW must be rubbing their hands! I appreciate the Euro > Pound rate isn't good but the whole point of the MK6 was thats its cheaper to make, wouldn't be able to tell that from the asking price

I take it at £27k, your car is DSG and not manual ?
Title: Re: My new GTi
Post by: gizzywizzy on 18 June 2009, 17:38
No it's a manual, the xenons are the thing that bumped the cost but I reckon they look really smart.  Also when you factor in the price of ACC and stereo it  soon mounts up.  But what the heck it's only money!!  Also I'm only paying £20000 for it cos I got £7110 as a trade in on my old Peugeot 307.

PS I'm loving this forum idea.

does that mean the day the start to build it,or when the ship it to you ?

From what I can gather that is the week that the car begins to be built and will be shipped by the end of July or early August.  Can't wait

That sounds very expensive for that spec... The Silver car in my dealer was £27600 and that was DSG and leather... How much are the Xenons??? Surely not as much as leather and DSG put together??

Hi all the basic cost of the 5 door mark 6 is £22995 + the optional extras that I went for added a further £4110 these were:
                              Metallic paint          £395
                              Monza 18"              £415
                              Xenons                  £1025
                              Acc                       £705
                              RCD 510 + dynaudio £680
                              Sunroof                  £550
                              Winter pack             £340

Sadly there were no discounts to be had although I pushed really hard, though I will get £7000 for my Peugeot as a trade in.

I guess it seems a high price to pay but it is gonna be some cool car and I personally cannot wait to take delivery.

I work hard for my money and don't smoke or drink so what the hell I like a nice car!!

Ooo eck, now don't take offence nothing meant, just saying that as I don't spend money on other leisure luxuries (cos I'm probably a boring old f..t!!) that I would like to spend it on a top spec car and imho that is what I'm getting.

that's inexperience and new-car-bying syndrome speaking, because mk5 looks better.
If it is over it is already "above".

I ordered mine on may 22nd i was told build week 27 which according to the dealer is in july, probably just 27 th week of the year, any way when did you order yours ? and how come its only 1 week later on the build date ?, I,ve just rang my dealer after i`d seen your post and he assures me no one jumps the queue.Mine is suppose to be coming mid aug

I ordered on May 23rd dealer reckoned build week 28 which commences Monday 6th July so I'm not sure how long from there, it's just what dealer stated but no one can actually be sure when car will arrive in UK.  Anyway I'm not bothered as long as it gets here soon as and is a cracker I'll be happy as I'm sure you will be too.

Dealer now saying mine will now be here by the end of july ,i hope so but not getting my hopes up yet  ,perhaps they are a head of themselves ? I see you only ordered the day after me so should be around the same time,i thought you`d ordered later than that and my dealer was being slow.It was a bank holiday weekend if my memory serves me well.(that would make it about 10 weeks, just think they might be parked next to each other somewhere )

Well just think if it's end of July we don't have too long to wait do we?  If the car is as good as everyone says we are in for some brill driving.

Autoexpress mag ran the mark 6 against Honda Civic type R and sporty mini neither of which I rate anyway it beat them hands down, maybe not as fast as the mini but so much better drive and ride.

Put some pics up when you get it and I will do the same.

Yes mine is 3dr pearl black with monza shadows and yours is 5dr pearl black with monza shadows,i went for dyno audio to,i choose 3dr because its a second car and looks a little more sporty than the 5dr,i did test drive a 5dr pearl black with monzas,it looked lovely and drove as good as you wish it will.Enjoy
