Title: Removing red stripe/silver stripe?
Post by: 8v Grunt! on 17 June 2009, 12:21
I've got a black 89 8v 5 door. I am changing my drivers door finally (Damn rust!). The door i'm putting on is from a later model and doesn't have any stripes on it. Do i remove the red stripe and silver stripe that run down both sides or try to get a match with stripes on the new door? If i do remove all stripes, does anyone know the best method?

If your taking them off all you need is a hairdryer to warm the plastic up and they will peel straight off

Thanks for that. I think i will remove the stripes as i won't be able to match the stripes as they have been on the car for 20 years now.

I did mine and it’s quite an easy but yet satisfying job!!!!

Oh you will have to pop the side trim off along  the car to get it all as it about 1.5 inch think

Nice one mate. I was hoping this would be a fairly easy job. Too damn wet today to tackle though! Typical. Can't wait to have a drivers door that isn't full of holes!
