hai guys...just wanted to ask about these engines...i know the golf mk3 came with the tdi 90 engine, and the later VW's came with the 110/130 engines...just wanted to ask what the main differences are on these engines...are the blocks the same on these???
im curious about fitting a tdi lump in my mk3 but might be worth while fitting a more powerful one ;)
-
I think the main differences are turbos and ecu's
-
so bolting wise i wouldnt really have a problem...awesome in that case...
next question....wiring??? pig of a job or do able for a person who hates wires???
-
I think to get a 110 or 130 working would be simple enough, the later PD units are a lot harder.

VW = Lego :grin: Mostly.
Good to see another going derv power  You can get quite a lot out of them for less money than a 'gasser'
-
PD would be a bit of a headache, major loomage but not impossible. Ive seen a few MK2 pd 130's . Remapped to 170 too.
Much smoother than the older derv engines too. Get it done.

Some guy on ed38 put a 130pd lump in a mk3, I think that was also remapped.
-
thanks for the gen guys...i was thinking that the newer pd lumps would be harder to do with all the sensors etc etc...ill be happy with a td130 if it will go in without too much messing around with the wires...i hate wires :(
jay, thats exactly why i want a TD lump, ive got just the D lump right now, still nippy enough and super super economical (done my volvo's full tank milage in a tenner LOL)

ill have a nosey on that then :D

It was a irish guy and the car was Audi TT Grey, the 110 or 130 would be easier to fit.

you;ve confuzzled me now  you just said above that some one put a pd130 in a mk3, not a tt lol
which car should i get a 110/130 out of???

No it was a mk3 but painted Audi TT grey, your best bet for a 110 is Seat or Skoda.

I think the difference between the 2 is turbo and ecu.

ah right so its no biggie if i get a 110 as i can just pop a 130 turbo (maybe bigger??) and get hold of an ecu
thanks for your help guys

No worries

lot more differences than just that - the 110 engine is a NON PD - most of the bits from a 130 PD engine will not fit
-
Sorry, I stand corrected.

nah go 130 or 150 :afro:
few lads on ukmkivs are running them with hybrid turbos and pushing 240/250bhp and approx 390lbs ft torque!!

There are a lot of things stated in this thread which aren't exactly true. People have done a 110-->130 conversion on UKMKIVS but from memory you need ECU injectors, turbo, manifolds and so on.
