i want to get an amp and sub for my mk3 golf just wanted to know before i rip it apart where is the best to poke the wires from the amp to the battery through, down which side, how, what has to be removed etc. any help appreciated
-
down the passenger side.
Pull up the carpet sills and lift the carpet up slightly
Look in the engine bay for any grommet holes. Feed the wire in it and then locate it in the car.

Yeah like blue said, Mine are down passenger side. Easy enough to getto the battery but i found it a b!tch to get to the h/u... Some say but power down one side and rca down the other but i never have and find it ok
-
cheers for the advice and one last thing being a student would u recommend any cheap sub+amps to go for. seen a complete fusion package for 200 but wanted to know what u thought
-
that fusiom kit is good value for money, my mates got it, came with sub in box amp and all the wiring loom, bargain id say. easy to set up too :D

Best advice I could offer is to take your time or you will start to break things, be prepared to spend a whole day on it, its best to get it right the first time then you wont have to do it again. It might be worth buying two or three RCA's and putting them in at the same time then you wont have to worry about pulling you car to bits again.

take out your seats. it makes pulling the carpet up and laying the cable perfect first time. :)
-
take it to dizzie and let him do it!!! ;D

I've got enough on my plate at the mo. several projects started and all about halfway through. my parents are constantly in a mood cos the garage is messy. ;D
-
i no that feeling, gl just take ur time and have plenty of spares, if u run into problems shout and someone on here will help point the way

well I just spent about 3 weeks slowly making a stealthed box to fit behind the wheel arch in the boot and finally it got finished. all that was left to do was cover it with felt. only trouble is it sounds sh!te :'(
so today popped down to homecare and bought some more 18mm MDF. then in an hour built up a box the size that JL say. Will seal and test tomorrow.
-
any pic's? nice to see how it looks after its all done.
-
pics of what? the stealthed box? it's not covered. just wedged in there at the mo. I'll cover my proper MDF box tomorrow.
-
yer the stealthed box lol but not till its finished, i got plain old box simple and boring takes up to much room :(
-
I probably won't finish it. it sounds sh!te. no point wasting time on it now. just gonna build the square box and have done that that.
