Title: Spraying my rims
Post by: doely85 on 14 June 2009, 19:07
Thinking about giving my alloys a refurb and spraying them a different colour. They are the standard 96 gti ones, anyone got any pics of theirs sprayed? trying to decide on a colour, my car is twilight violet so looking for something to go with that, its a cheap mod as i am strapped for cash at the mo and wanting to do something lol. Also can i get away with putting the wheel balancing weights on the inside of the rim as i have a couple on the rear? Cheers

yeh they look the dogz. Is it much harder to do with the tires on? i have read this guide

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2952633

Not that a garage would charge that much for removing 4 tires then sticking them back on once i was finished? Cheers for the rapid replies

look smart dude, mine are gunna need quite alot of sanding on the lip they're pretty chinned, i will give it a bash and see what happens, if needs be i will get the tires taken off. Any ideas on the balancing weights?

If you mean not having weights on the outside just get them balanced using stick on.

If the rims and fairly bad your best to get the tryes off and get them rebalanced with sticky weights (on the inside)

use a wheel filler, they sell it in halfords somin like this but they sell the filler on its own in the shop and its alot cheaper, also depends how big the missing chunk is.
