Mk4 Golf GTi 1.8T (Y reg 2001) - Standard with no mods.
Here's the deal. I want to do some basic tuning soon but need advice before the big leap as I am new to tuning.
My aim is for perfomance gain. I don't care much for noise or looks.
I don't have enough money for extensive tuning/uprating and so this is what I propose to do:
* Jetec or Pipercross fast flow 100cpsi CAT (kepping standard exhaust and manifold in place).
* Pipercross Viper Velocity induction kit (the carbon fiber heat protected one with cold air feed).
* AMD Technik ECU level 1 mapping.
* Forge 007 Black dump valve (re-circulating).
Should I go for the Jetec or the Pipercross CAT?
Any ideas if one is better than the other? they both cost about the same. Will it still be worth getting even with the standard exhaust?
Would it be worth buying the Forge 007? I have always thought of this as an extra I could maybe do without.
Oh also, my golf has a GTI badge with all silver letters and not the GTi with the red i. I'm not sure, should it have the red i GTi badge? I thought the red i was for the turbo. :huh:
Any help or advice will really help me out. Thank-you in advance. :smiley:

get the forge valve , replace the downpipe with a 2 half inch one and fit a
good exhaust then get it remaped .even with the downpipe and exhaust
fitted before the remap it makes a hell of a difference turbo spins up a
lot faster

+ forge turbo intake pipe.
as for the map, have a look at r-tech and the info about them on this site. and for the cat, which ever is cheaper, i would imagine they would both be good quality.
