I've got a 8v GTI first registered 09/93.
I'm trying to find out what engine it is so I can source the right exhaust parts. I'm assuming there must be a place on the engine I can find this out, but everywhere on line seems to have different info.
If I look at Boney Bradleys site here:
http://boneybradley.webs.com/theengines.htm
I get the following engine dates:
2.0
2E 11.91-09.94
ADY 10.94-12.95
AGG 07.95-12.01
ABF 08.92-12.98
Which leads me to believe its the 2E, but if I look at the parts on here:
http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/search_results.php??1244982678640&se_pc_id=1&se_sc_id=2&se_ft_id=1&se_ma_id=74&se_mo_id=1251&se_es_id=23&se_bt_id=12&se_yr_id=44
they've got a different part for the 2E up to 07/93, then it seems to change to the same as the ADY/AGG part from 08/93 on.
Since the car was registered just after this change, how do I know if it's the later model or the erlier model?
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated, as I just seem to be confusing myself with the different engines and seemingly different models within the same engine code.
Thanks
Tim.

If you look on your air flow meter (air mass in the pic) it will say either bosch (which means 2e) or hitachi which will be ady...I am 99% sure yours will be a 2e motor

Cheers for the info BB.
So what's the difference between the 2e models (some parts seem to be listed for the early 2e and some for the later 2e)? And how do I knwo which one I've got?
