hi everyone new to this site?but here goes i have got a mk1 gti with the vr6 fitted and i left it a few weeks on drive?came to start it battery was flat so reached for the jump leads?and this is where my dilema started put leads on both vehicles and it started then the clip came of the donor car jumper and touched the live jump lead hence a spark and then engine on golf cut out?????????????now wont start turn key and trys to turnover but doesent?would appreciate any advice barring bad news lol?could i have just took a fuse out or fuel pump relay or by a miracle not caused any damage but needs fuel in?????????????????many thanks shaun

Sounds like you could have blown the ecu.

will i need engine no for the right ecu and reprogrammed or owt? and where will it be situated the ecu and is it a matter of just swapping them over or more to it than that thanks shaun

welcome to the site :smiley: are you sure it aint just blown a fuse for the fuel pump or summit? :undecided:

thanx stu where would fuse be located is it in the fusebox by drivers side or seperate to this cheers m8 :laugh:

Welcome to the mad house.
You don't seem hugely clued up on electrics judging from your replies. I would suggest getting a mobile auto electirician out to investigate the problem for you. It'll be cheaper in the long run than you throwing parts at till it starts.
MK1 Vr sounds fun!

you got it in one nick havent a clue with these????but was running sweet until this mishap so was just wondering what the diagnose could be?if ecu gone what would i have to do to replace it i.e codes or anything or where fuel pump fuse is located as im just a driver not mechanic haha but miss driving it badly :cry:

WHere are you loacted mate? Might be someone local on here willing to take a look at it for you.
THese kinds of problems are often hard to diagnose via a forum due to the fact the the car has been converted to run the VR6 so won't have standard wiring.

thanx every one finally got it sorted narrowed it down to fuel pump relay?went to scrappys yesterday and bought one a £1 lol jobs a good un?was glad when it kicked in after 10 seconds and the vr6 rawp was heard again?HAPPY DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
