Title: Valance - What do people think?

I was wondering what people think of having a front and back valance on a mk4 golf.

My car's black and of course both of the valance's will be black.

I've found both front and rear on ebay for about £50:

Now although it says 4 motion I presume it will fit others?

think you can actually buy them cheaper from vw  :shocked: i only paid about £35 for mine  :undecided:

I was looking at the R32 kit (like 500+ from ebay or essex cars website) but not sure about the quality.

Anyone got a rough idea of the price for a decent quality anni kit?

genuine r32 kit will cost near 400 each bumper and around 200 for the skirts as far as i know

I love the look of the R32 kit but I'm now leaning towards the anni kit.

The ones one ebay are Fibre Glass.

I have no experience with the material used in bumpers.

Can anyone give me a good overview or has anyone had any experience with them?

You wanna try and avoid the fibreglass kists - they are cheap for a reason! Try and find abs plastic kits, or better still, genuine vag parts  :smiley:

I just bought my rear 4motion valance from dealer and that was £52  :sad:, however this might be cheaper than other places as you need to account for p+p.
...might not...

Just to clarify - the Front and Rear Valance will fit a non-4motion golf right?

I think all the valances are interchangeable acros the standard gti's and 4 motions. Obviously teh R32 is a different kettle of fish.

How well they fit depends on them being genuine VAG or copies.

Yes both 4mo valances fit any model, I have both on mine  :smiley:

i went for the anni rear and had the fron one smoothed and colour coded :cool: finishes the bumper off

LOL the funny thing is - I've just noticed the car already has both front and rear valances!

bloody good job I didn't but them.

This is what sucks about being at uni, living on a main street without a drive so not had that much chance to take a detailed look at the car!

Yeah you should have the front and rear plastic valances as standard. They will be subtley different from the 4motion ones, but no harm in rubbing them down and just colour coding the standard ones. It tidies up the look a great deal.

Did this mod to the front of mine this week. They are a straight swap.

I paid £37 for mine from Ridgeway Newbury VW. There are two types of this valnce though!! One for the 4 Motion and one for the 150bhp GTi TDi. The difference is the 4Motion one doesn't have the vents cut out and the TDi one does.

Part numbers: 1J0 805 903 D (Diesel one I think)
                    1J0 805 903 F (4 Motion)

Two screws at either end (in front of front wheelsin wheel arch) and pull off!! :afro:
