Title: tricky one..
Post by: jamie16v on 11 June 2009, 18:56
righty,
i am running a pair of alpine components up front, (got the same for rear but not fitted yet) and two tens in a bandpass box.
im running the components off a four channel alpine v12 mrv-f300s and the subs off an alpine mrv-t802-dx.
my problem is, whenever i connect the two channel amp up (via Y splitters or the daisy chain loop) it makes my four channel amp cut out at higher volumes and then sometimes it wont work at all..
this is not only with the two channel amp, i also tried it with a different amp and it did the same.
i later found that one of the subs has fried, could this be causing the amp running the components to cut?.
i also found that the RCA lead was dodgy on the connector but that has now been repaired. since i have disconnected the amp for the subs (along with the subs) the four channel amp regained consiousness after being left for a while and is now working first class untill i again connect the subs and amp??????.....
whats your opinions?.
cheers in advance.. jamie.

four channel amp seems to be going into protecton mode so as a starter id refit all the wires something may be shorting out and then see what happens. this might help it might not

if the speakers sound like there ' popping ' then its them , if not recheck the wiring especially the earth wire.Maybe shorting, sounds like its cutting the power off? i.e. no sound at all{ mine did this to me american legacy 2000 watt runng custom built 2x12" subs in boot.so i truned up the volume, and low and behold blew both subs at the same time, and my ear drums lol.} GL with the fault finding........

i think i am narrowing it down to dodgy rca jacks on the amplifiers. (both!  )
anybody know where i can order new ones to solder into the pcb?.
i fitted the crappy boss sound amp that blew my subs (to run the comps) and its working better than the alpine amps at the moment. but the rca jacks are fine on that..lol

are you sure maplin will have the same thing?. its not just a single RCA jack its about six Rca jacks on one block.
