This really makes that much difference then?
I think an R-tec remap is top of my mods list now after reading all this good comments.

Yes it does!!
Had mine done today + rolling road session at R-Techs and I'm well chuffed.
Rich is a sound honest guy, really knows his stuff.

:) sounds good ... where is the extra BHP most noticed then or is it all through lol?
sorry new to all this :P
-
No worries.
For me the most noticable are 2 areas.
The peak torque increase from 3K-4K and the lower down torque increase.
In standard form the turbo was beginning to spool at around 2000rpm, now it seems as low as 1400rpm.
Cheers

Sounds good
I hear that the only thing the remap will mess up is the clutch ... any opinions on this like how quickly will it mess it up and how much is an uprated clutch?

Doesn't necessary 'mess' your clutch up, as this mostly depends on:-
a) The current condition of your clutch
b) Your driving style.
The good news is, that an up-rated clutch is cheaper than the stock clutch system. (Look for the VR6 thread in the Mk4 Maint. & Info. Section). :afro:
