Hi,

Taking a guess I would say they are some kind of replica wheel judging by the new looking budget tyres they are wrapped in. This kind of arrangement is often sold on ebay etc.

Look nice though

They are monza 2's, I am sure someone posted last week that you could tell the difference between genuine and reps by the rim thickness between the spokes.

Nice, didn't mean to offend !

Obviusly not a good gusser either

Mint condition aswell, maybe they have been replaced under warranty recently?

I've never noticed the square end to the gap in spokes before either!

Sam

EDIT: You sure there genuine's? take a look at this picture

Monza II's, there Rep's, you can tell that because from what I can see, the dark insert doesn't go all the way to the Diamond cut edge.

I'm 99% sure they are not genuine VW items. The machining around the wheel nut holes and the centre cap are not correct. Also the colour of the non-polished area is the incorrect colour for either the Monza II's or the newer Monza Shadow's on the MK6.

I believe that VW had 2 different suppliers for the Monza II's and there are some very minor differences between the wheels made by the different suppliers. The ones on mine are made by BBS and have BBS cast into the inside of the rim.

Having said that, they are pretty good and most people would not notice.

^+1. They look a lot like reps.

I don't know what the Monza 1 alloys were but the Monza 2 are the style in the link and Monza 2 shadows are just Monza 2s with black inserts.

They are deffo reps.
You can tell (apart from what was posted above) by the smaller VW badge in the middle. The genuine Monza IIs have quite a big badge/cap but replicas can be supplied in either 5x100 or 5x112 so the cap has to be smaller to allow for the smaller PCD drilling. It may be the picture but the bolt holes look very slightly oval too which can be another giveaway. [/anorak mode off]

They still look nice though. Even genuine Monza IIs often don't still have the original colouring as many have been re-furbed by now due to their terrible lacquer issues.

There is no such thing as a Monza I stealth, it is either a 17'' Monza or an 18'' Monza II for a mk5, which are UK only designations. Normaly Denver or Detroits in other markets plus there are other designations by other importers around the world.

Schoolboy error - if you're on a budget, spend your money on quality tyres, not expensive alloys.

In the rest of europe yes but in the UK they are Monza II's as has been said.

Mk6 get a very similar design except the inserts are black rather than dark grey and they are called 'Shadows'

If you don't want to spend lots of £££ on rubber get some Falken FK 452's.  They are fantastic.
