Afternoon folks,
My MK2 16v needs a new battery, now i've upgraded the alternator to a 90A one, therefore do I need to buy a bigger battery than what I already have?
The car is probably going to be parked up a lot of the time so i'd like to get a decent one. Any recommendations?
Many Thanks.

nope same size battery will be optimal, as for brands just avoid the uber cheep stuff and look for one that boasts a 3 or 4 year warranty cant go to far wrong then
-
Ok cool, only thing is the current battery is some cheapo thing with no stickers or markings, so i've no idea what rating it is :undecided:

If you go to somewhere like halfrauds they have a book that lists what battery for what model of car, i would say get a battery that would be standard fit for the car your uprated alternator came from.
-
Halfords batterys are good, but muchos dollar - About twice the price of equivalent brands. I got mine from GSF and ECP.
-
Got a Bosch Silver from ECP a few months back for £35 - can't really go wrong.
-
I only said halfrauds cause they have the book with info that you can browse though and find out then go elsewhere, unless you know someone with a trade card!!!

i'm lazyer than that, i just ring up said company and say want a battery for one of these how much ? that way they look it up for you

Thanks for all your help folks, leaning towards a Bosch - will hopefully pick one up over the weekend
