wheres it located:S
im clueless and is it easy to do?
-
Bottom of the engine, yes easy to change but can be messy.
-
the sump is the big "pan" under the engine... its kinda hard to describe... the big kinda flat bit under the engine where all the oil gathers.... should be fairly easy to take off, a few bolts. you might need to get a new gasket to put between it and the engine when you put the new one on. The sump has got a plug on the bottom and you'll have to drain all the oil out through that before you take the sump off, so you better have something ready to catch the oil in.
anyway, if you're going to change it you might as well do an oil change and put a new oil filter on... I'd get someone to help if you're not sure what you're doing. if you get it wrong then you'll possible have leaks or wreck the engine... but go for it! much better to do the work yourself if you can!
hope this helps... goodluck

ive just changed my oil and filter:)
thanks a lot anyway mate, appreciate it!
-
no problem mate.
-
dont wanna be rude dude, but if you dont know where the sump is, buy a book and get you're head down and learn the basics.
-
yeah i know man
ive got one, ive got a haynes manual
-
Changing the sump is a relatively easy job.
But if you are a beginner then their are a couple of things to bear in mind.
First, there are a few bolts between the engine and gearbox that are tricky to get to, it may be worth ordering a few spare bolts incase any get ruined.
Secondly, you will need a new gasket when refitting.

Haynes should tell you everything you need to do most of the work in the car. But before you start doing the work go over the book well, cos not knowing where the sump is, is like going into the kitchen to cook a 3 course meal without knowing what an oven is...
-
ah i know what it is
just didnt know what it was called:)
my bad
-
in that case, get busy spinning spanners!
-
Can i just ask why you need to change it seeing as you've only just learnt what and where it is?
-
p.s. Can somebody please tell me WHERE THE FU<K MY STEERING WHEEL IS ?!?! :embarassed:
-
you can ask mate yeah:)
