hi up my local brakers there is a set of vmax coilovers on a mk3 golf will they fit on my mk2 golf they look the same thanks
-
yes they will
-
thanks mate
-
The top spring plate and mount can be different however.
-
if its a GTI or a late non-GTI the top mounts are different, but as long as you use the GTI top mounts its all good. If its an early non-gti then top mounts are same as mk2
-
Spring rates anyone?
Surely they'll be different? I remember someone on here getting so coilovers with mk3 spring rates and him saying how horrendous the handling was?
-
to be fair that could have just been down to crap coilovers, there are some really nasty bits of kit out there
-
I had the hotuning coilovers on my mk3 and the box said mk2 or mk3, but I would never use them again.

It was me with the daft spring rates and they were FK Highsports. Oddly enough a friends just ignored my advice and bought some (second hand and cheap admittedly) for his Mk1 golf and oddly enough, his spring rates are the same as mine and its wrecked his ride too lol. If you can find what the spring rates are on the ones on this scrapper Id be interested in knowing what they are, (there "may" be some numbers on them and I can figure them out from that, if it says something like 180-70 or 170-60 or similar Id avoid them as THATS STIFF for a road car) though just to satisfy my own sadness :nerd:.

At the end of the day, unless you knew what you were doing, I'd only buy springs with spring rates to suit my car.
Is it worth the risk of saving a few quid otherwise?
That's just my opinion though :)
