Hi, could this cause my (now and again) Idle problem on my 8v gti... It what looks like is a hose (small diameter) with braided material over it, but at the nipple on the throttle body that its connected to, well its fraying (the material) Not sure if the hose is also damaged, to be honest i do not wanna touch it incase it comes away completely :)
P.S. The pipe I mean is to the right of the throttle body on a small nipple. if this helps.
Do VW do replacement hoses for this?
Many thanks as usual
-
I'll get sum pics up of it so u can see what i mean
-
ya may as well replace it mate,
it was partly the problem on mine!!
check allyour ither vac pipes to!!
i had a massive whole in the corner of the elbow joint one from the bottom of tb!!

get down to a scrappy:)
-
I wouldnt get a hose from a scrappy, (as its rubber, it perishes through its age) so a New one would be the best idea, and i wouldnt think it'd be that expensive for a hose,.... i hope
-
Cheers Robz, Im takin the throttle body off soon so i can see the pipes under neath... I'll replace it... wher did u get your replacement pipes from?? Vw dealer?
Cheers pal
-
err... scrappy, lol
as long as the hose looks ok.. lol
i was only getting cheap to see if it changed my problem..
if i defo knew it was that id have prob got new tbh...
get the tb cleaned while your there, lol...
have ya got induction kit??
-
heh gunna clean it aswell yeah, I've just done a air box mod, Pipercross panel filter, drilled box and removed the original air intake pipe that went into the inner wing and got sum duct and routed it to the front grill in the bumper.
Cheers m8

reason i ask is some dick fitted the wrong induction kit to mine before i bought it, and then knackered all the rubbers to the tb up, which was why mine was surging and cutting out...
so may be worth checking the ruubers above your mas meter for holes and make sure ya nip them up well when ya have done your tb ;)
hth
good luck!
-
jsu re reading my post...
i wasnt insinuating your a dick!!
just to make that clear... just the person before me had bodged mine....
mine only started cutting out after i messed and disturbed it trying to fix his mess!!
so may be you have just disturbed a vac pipe whilst working on it like i did!!
:)
ps... can ya throw some pics of your home made induction kit cos im considering it on mine!
cheers m8

1m of vac hose from Driftbridge VW was only £4.
Big rubber cam cover pipe £15 inc vat from VW (last month)
Crank case breather pipe £16+Vat from VW (last month)
Hardly worth the trip to the scrappy at those prices
Small vac hose on the TB can be replaced with 4mm PE pnuematic hose available from good tool shops comes in various colours too
