the polo gti wheels are 15" and would look ok

-

Shady has Polo BBS's on his they look good.

mine (16" BBS RS/RX2)'s are off a Polo.... 6.5J, but can still take 205mm width wheels and are within spec and I reckon they look pretty sweet.... only problem was that the offset is ET45 and needed to be ET30-ET38.... the track looked a little narrow, so I've got 15mm (H&R Trakplus) hubcentric spacers to take mine to ET30, which is still not that wide.... but add another £150+ for the spacers, so it's NOT a cheap option!

so your saying i cant put them on my car as they are ?
-
that auction is for one wheel only.... your car will look very silly with only one wheel ;)
ask him for the numbers off the inside of the wheel.... pretty sure that Polo GTI alloys shd be 16"....

BBS "RS764" = wheel make and model, "6/1/2J" (6.5J) = wheel width, 16H2 = 16", ET45 = offset
pls note: ET45 is 15mm-7mm too narrow (should be ET30-ET38).... since the wheel was already 12.5mm narrower than it was supposed to be 6.5J, not7J, I deciced to add the FULL 15mm back onto the offset....
That said, I was able to run these wheel straight away despite the ET45 offset (and I drove to Paris and back like that, not a prob!), but needed wheel spacers to make it look right...
smaller than 15" and you might hit probs on your brake caliper clearance... I know 15" was the smallest I was advised to go on mine....

so your saying i cant put them on my car as they are ?
Yes you can, pm shady or check his threads his has no spacers and looks sweet.

Shadys wheels aren't splits so quite possibly have a different offset.
I'm also led to believe that his wheels originally came off of a Vauxhall Calibra :)

The did a Calibra DTM edition with the same non split wheels, offset on these is at least 40 to 45 however.

Here are a couple of pics from mine:

No spacers or anything, straight onto my GL. They are BBS RXs, so they aren't split, however I'm not sure of the et.
-
well find out then.
-
very nice BBS RX's is what I was after, but I couldn't find any Calibra (non-turbo's) to mug to get the 4-spot versions.... the a LOT of the calibra turbo's had-em, but 5-stud fitment :(
I seem to rememenr the offset and centre bore were all spot-on for a Mk3 too :)
Shady - what tyres r u running? wheels look well into the arches, but car still looks a shade high (at the back)?! Maybe it's just the angle since you've dropped the front more.
-
I'm running a pair of budget tyres on the front, and a pair of Toyo Proxe T1Rs on the back now, the stand I really like as is because it's nose down, and the rear just fills in the arches, whereas the front just tucks under, mind you, my Toyos now fill the back in more, so it looks more tucked :)
-
Shady - I meant the tyre sizes!
intersting choice.... I tend to put the new tyres ont eh frotn and leave the older, presumably smoother, ones on the back :)

I am sure he is running 195/45/16's

Yup, this is correct, and as for the tyres, my front tyres are only 6 months old and covered about 1200 miles, if that, so they are like new :)
-
that's weird, 'cos mine's running 205/45/16 rubber, so should theoretically look like the tyres are even fatter, but 'cos of the stance, your rear tyres look chunkier than minea nd the frotn's look slightly slimmer!! I'm guessing that's 'cos of the suspension stance?
Or is that just me??

I dunno man, I think the rear tyres do look chunkier like you say, but the ones in the pic were Continentals, I'm now running Toyo T1Rs, the front tyres always looks thinner, but they are the same size, all round.
-
optical illusions.... guess it's just the stance...
mine r the same sze Toyo T1-R's all the way around... pfrotn with <1000miles and backs with about 5000 miles on 'em....
