Have just got a new sump, have been told I need to remove the drive shaft and fly wheel coverplate to fit,
if so can I only diconect the diff end of drive shaft, and how do I remove the flywheel cover plate,
I'm no master mech but am trying to do as much work on my car myself,
I replaced the head gasket on my old mk2 16v so hopefully should be able to manage this, thanks in advance for any info

who ever told you that doesnt know what they are talking about.
i just did mine the other day, and took me about 40 mins.
firstly remove the protective aluminium bracket that goes over your sump, (if you stand at the front of you car facing the sump, it will be on the right on the block, i think it has 5 or 6 allen head bolts, but be carefull not to round these off.
then simply remove the ring of smaller bolts around the sump, and it will come off. (when you take off the aluminium bracket i mentioned, it hides 2 bolts, and to remove these you need an allen key with the kind of ball on the top as they are sat slightly inside the fly wheel, and you need to go in at a slight angle to get them out, sounds weird, but you'll see exactly what i mean when you remove the alu bracket)
there is no need to support the engine or remove anything what so ever, obviously drain the oil first ;)
