Title: Service
Post by: stevengeelan on 07 June 2009, 12:55
Hi,

The 'Service in 500 miles' has started to come up on my display. The car has done about 26000miles. What am I to expect with this service?

Presume this will be your second service if you are on variable?

Your handbook will tell you what's needed, but if it were my car i'd ask them to do more than just what the service book says.

I would probably get oil+filter, air filter, pollen filter, brake fluid.

Fuel filter and spark plugs are worth considering depending on cost.

That's just my opinion, but you won't do any harm by changing filters sooner than they recommend.

I'd expect you to get fleeced 240 pounds for an oil change and a lot of looking at !!!

I disagree with your cost quote, I paid last year for 2 year service inc brake fluid change £252, this year I have paid £160 for the 3 year service (Pretty much an oil change etc). SO you may wish to discuss with the person you use for servicing what you are being charged. BTW the costs  for me were at a main VW dealer as well.

Cheers.
