Post by: scottyboy08 on 07 June 2009, 10:18
Hey guys and girls I recently bought Myself a new grill and I decided to have a go at painting myself so I am going to do the circle bit White like my car then put a black badge on but the arms are going to be gloss black....I sanded it all then cleaned and gave 4 coats of primer to it now the next step is to mask of the sides and paint the middle bit White do I need to sand over the primer again with 1200 grit sandpaper or not? Any help please

you can take the vw badge off the grill which may help with the maskin! also you should try to 600 grit it wet then dry an add primer, then repeat lightly an then primer again, allow to dry then 1500 grit wet an then a light dusting of primer, allow to dry then coat with the colour paint. i did mine all satin black last week an came out perfect. i also took all the bottom grills out an did the same an it looks awesome! :)
