Title: rear bumper/skirt.
Post by: red16v on 16 August 2004, 21:10
I've accidentally backed my Golf into a parking bollard and now the rear bumper/skirt is touching right up against the rear lh lens cluster (On the rh side there is 2-3mm clearance). When I go over a bump I think the plastic bumper/skirt rides up/against the lens cluster and I hear a 'clicking' noise. Can anyone tell me how the bumper/skirt is attached to the rear of the vehicle ? I'm thinking of maybe dismantling it and straightening it up - I'm presuming that it is held onto the rear of the car with some steel outriders and perhaps I have bent one ? kind regards, yt.

Never had reason to take my bumper off, but found a pic of a golf with the rear bumper off (cheers Gary H? ;) ) and highlighted what looks like the fixings (ofcourse i could be completely wrong.. but the picture should help anyway). Looks like you get access to the top ones from inside the boot, hope this helps.
