Title: help with central locking please!!!!!!!!
Post by: _Adam_ on 05 June 2009, 20:43
latley i noticed the lights didnt flash when locking the car and the red led doesn't flash when locked, and today i realised the drivers door doesnt lock at all, and only locks SOMETIMES with the key, its still very temprememntal. the passenger door has always been a bit tempremental, locking every time but sometimes only opening when the interior unlock button is pressed.
im in need of advice pls!!!

You need someone nearby who can hook you up to VAGCOM/VCDS to find out if your central locking system is working correctly or not. They could alter a few settings from the convenience section to see if it makes any difference.

Maybe a silly question, but I'll have to ask it.....have you tried swapping out the batteries in the key?

An old mk4 problem was the switches in the door handle would fail so the car wouldn't lock / unlock properly because it didn't really know if the door was open or shut.  Are your courtesy lights OK?  Coming on when you open the door / going off at the right time?  If not it could be the problem.

Best bet as Hurdy says is VCDS.

latley i noticed the lights didnt flash when locking the car and the red led doesn't flash when locked,

I just had this problem once. Later I found It was because I didn't shut my tailgate securely. And I often found the inter locking light on the door lit on constantly instead of flashing. I haven't given it a second thought for it's not causing any problem so far...
