What is a binding front caliper going to to to the surrounding area?
Screw up disc and pads obviously, but could it cook the bearing and degrade / burst the cv boot from the excessive heat?
Just considering my current split cv boot and assoc problems from a different angle

I don't know, but you could strip the brakes down & grease the slider bolts like I did. :)
-
I hoped it was simply a warped disc, It's got a bit beyond me doing it now:
n/s Disc is well knackered and I'm guessing pads are done in too.
n/s Outer CV is split (grease everywhere).
n/s Lots of noises in motion (chirping and vibration) and under braking (judder). Bearing/CV joint/disc?
Could an ABS fault be playing a part in this series of issues? :undecided:

it sounds like a nightmare

it isnt the sort of thing to leave and see what happens, if your not sure what the problem is then take it to your local garge and get them to investigate and sort it mate, you dont want to be driving round with a car which has a fooked disc and pad set one side, it could result in all sorts of bad things.

You are correct and I appreciate what you are saying, but I don't deserve a telling off!
I was planning doing the disc/discs this weekend, but the boot intervened with those plans and I only found that last night when I got in. It has been in the garage today, I was simply on here looking for some ideas what to expect if they were to sort it out. Not hoping that by asking you it would magically repair itself!
CV had split, contaminated brakes, which started rubbing, which developed heat, which knackered the rotor.
So: CV boot replaced (CV itself is still OK) & both discs replaced as they were getting thin.
Took it out to bed the new rotors in properly and the problem is now sorted.
The end.

 Telling off?! :undecided:
Just looked like some sound advice from where I'm sitting!

was telling you off, was just giving advice to get it sorted asap really as its abit of a safety issue for yourself and other road users. :lipsrsealed:
