I've just sold the MK1 as I fancy a change and have been looking at Scirocco's as an alternative to golfs and found a J-Reg GT2 for sale for a good price
Does anyone know what the spec of these cars were as standard as I can't find much info on the internet. I think its got a 1.8 carb'd engine but not sure.
Can anyone help.
Cheers

Yep, 1.8 carb engine same as late Mk2 Driver and GL. Steel wheels and a bright cloth trim but tasteful.
Just make sure that Pierburg 2E2 carb is not playing up by checking cold and hot starts.

I agree those carbs can be a bit of a nightmare, usually the waxstat idle control is to blame, as dubboy said if it revs pretty high when cold this is uaually the problem ( replacment wax stat are around ?20 for GSF )
The 1.8 carb is 90bhp but don't expect it to handle like a golf, the scirocco is one of those car's either you love em or hate em. shop around as i have seen them very cheap, but also ridiculously expensive.
I have had 2 and would definitly have another.

^^ err isnt the scirocco suppost to handle better than the mk1 golf? like the corrado is better than the mkq2 at handling
-
no way is the corrado better thnsa a mk2 at handling!! too much extra weight ;)
-
the corrado is regarded as the best handling fwd coupe i thought?
