Title: battery in boot

hi all ive put an optima battery in the boot with a split charge relay can u tell me what wire i should conect the switch live to on the ignition of my mk1 golf 1983 so that the split charge relay is only on wen the ignition is on thanx ian

drop the fusebox down, you'll notice on the back 2 groups of spade connectors 1 side is live, the other are mostly ignition live. break out the multimeter ;)

that is easyer said than done mate i broke the screws that hold the fuse box up so i stuck it there with body kit glue cos i fort i would never need to get to it :angry: so i fink the wires up at the ignition would be the easyist

you might be able to see/feel behind it if you lie on your back?  otherwise use the yel/black wire from ign or light switch, or red/black to blower switch.
edit: i take it this is just a switched feed right, no load on it?

yes mate just to switch the split charger relay, on the wire that goes to the other battery is much thicker

cool should be alright then, as long as you do a good job joining the wires ;)
