I believe this is the cold start mechanism!
It broke off in my hands!
Have stuck it back on but looks to be in wrong position! That orange bit is the piston.
The car starts so do I need to do anything?
-
looks like an idle switch to me, sounds like a trip to the scrappy is on the cards for you!
-
Well car starts but now I glued it on it looks to be in wrong position!
Scrappy? These not available from dealers?
-
indeed, I thought it was an 8v at first but then i noticed your sig and tilted my head a bit

'INTAKE SYSTEM / THROTTLE VALVE ADAPTER / 2.0ltr. / / 4 cylinder: / ABF'
'switch for throttle valve'
I'll double check the number on the one on my inlet, but I'm pretty sure thats it :)
-
I found that! But looks nothing like my one!
-
yeah its not actually on the diagram to the left, thats why it has '-' next to the part number. Its Annoying when they do that

Very!
Need a breather hose from manifold to air cleaner and it looks different! But then its totally out of stock anyway! So thats a deffo scrappy item!
-
yeah have to watch out for those bits as the abf inlet/isv/breather piping changed on the later years. the breather diagram in particular is completly wrong for an abf its all 8v in the pics!
-
Might take a trip to Volksmania and get a spare throttle body anyway just incase!
And give it a good polish up!
Car was fine today - idled fine both hot and cold.

sorry to come in on your post :wink:my mk3 16v 1997 is idling at 1100rpm and i removed the throttle body sensor  but still at 1100 do you think a new tb/sensor will sort out my problem ??
